Man Killed In Stamford Shooting: Police
Police said Jeffrey Vanech, 49, of Stamford, was killed in a shooting.

STAMFORD, CT — A city man was shot and killed Monday night in Stamford, according to police.
Police said they received a report of a shooting in the area of Henry and Cedar streets around 5:30 p.m. Officers found a man, later identified as Jeffrey Vanech, 49, of Stamford, lying in the road.
"Medical care was rendered and (Vanech) was transported to Stamford Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries," police said in a statement Tuesday.

Police arrested Freddy Dontay Hicks, 36, on charges of criminal possession of a firearm, hindering prosecution and tampering with evidence after officers executed a search warrant at a Cedar Street residence and recovered a gun.
