Man Strangles Woman at Stamford Motel New Year's Eve: PD

He became intoxicated and an argument turned physical, police said.

STAMFORD, CT — A homeless man was arrested after he strangled a woman and tried to take her cell phone in a room at America's Best Value Inn New Years Eve, police said.

Thomas Golterman, 45, invited a 38-year-old homeless woman to the motel and got into an argument with her after he became intoxicated, according to the Stamford Advocate. He demanded she return a phone he bought her earlier in the day along with any money she had.
She refused and Golderman pushed her to the floor and began strangling her, police said. He ran out of the room, but was later found at a Dunkin Donuts after officers got a tip from the victim.
