Mayor Joins Harry Bennett Branch to Celebrate Extended Hours

The library will now be open from 1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Thursdays because of a generous private donation.

Mayor David Martin recently joined library staff in announcing new, increased hours at the Harry Bennett Library Branch on Thursdays. The library will now be open from 1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Thursdays because of a generous private donation.

“The Ferguson Library is a treasure to the City of Stamford,” said Mayor Martin. “It is important to me that the City support our libraries in their mission of serving the community, in conjunction with other private and public funding. With this donation and others like it in the past, more people have an opportunity to access their library, which is great news!”

“We are delighted to open the Harry Bennett Branch additional hours thanks to a generous anonymous gift from a regular Harry Bennett customer,” commented Alice Knapp, President, The Ferguson Library. “Over the last two years, The Ferguson Library has been able to expand hours and increase bookmobile service with increased funding from the city, and generous private gifts, including grants from the Steven & Alexandra Cohen and Velaj Foundations. It is a joint private-public effort to restore Ferguson Library hours.”
