STAMFORD, CT — NBC Sports, which is based in Stamford at 1 Blachley Road, has laid off a "very small number" of employees, according to the Stamford Advocate.

The cuts affect Stamford-based employees who worked primarily in "digital-focused positions," the Advocate reported.

The Advocate noted that the broadcasting company did not specify the number of job cuts or the reason for them.

A September report from Bloomberg said Comcast, NBC Sports' parent company, was looking to cut "as much as $1 billion from the budget of TV networks in its entertainment division, NBCUniversal."

At the end of 2021, NBCUniversal shut down its sports cable channel, NBCSN. Most of the programming moved to USA Network and Peacock, the company's streaming service.
