New Assistant Principal Named At Toquam Magnet Elementary School

Stamford Public Schools announced the appointment of Corine Matarasso on Wednesday.

STAMFORD, CT — Stamford Public Schools (SPS) announced Corine Matarasso as assistant principal of Toquam Magnet Elementary School on Wednesday, according to a news release. Matarasso fills the position recently vacated by the departure of former Assistant Principal Casey Cummings.

Matarasso is a long-time Stamford resident and member of the SPS staff. She has served for the past three years as the Toquam Elementary School teacher leader for student support. Matarasso began her SPS career at K.T. Murphy Elementary School, where she was a teacher in multiple grade levels and served as the school’s administrative intern for four years.

She earned a bachelor's degree in marketing at SUNY F.I.T. and a master's in elementary education, as well as an intermediate administration and supervision advanced degree from the University of Bridgeport.

Matarasso has a Remedial Reading certificate from Sacred Heart University and is a fellow of the UCONN NEAG School of Education PK-3 Leadership Program.
