Despite 91 degree heat during the first week of June which was not fun for the dogs and thus people didn’t stay long, the 2014 New Canaan Dog Days was a success. We raised money for PAWS and collected over 400 pounds of food, plus litter, beds, crates, snacks, toys, etc. for STARelief pet pantry. The two non-profits got lots of publicity which will help them achieve their missions.
The contest winners had great photo portraits taken by Venture Photography. The cars in the Cool Dogs in Hot Ride Parade were on view and received votes for favorite car. The contest was won by a woman with a 1969 Camaro that was handed down over many generations.
We had very few costumed dogs because it was just too hot, but the cooling area with wading pools and hose was very, very busy. Our newly added coffee cafe in the shade was popular. And much more...
