New COVID-19 Testing Site Opens In Stamford

A new testing site has opened up in Stamford's South End, the city said in an announcement this week.

STAMFORD, CT — In an effort to meet increased demand for COVID-19 testing, the city of Stamford announced that a new testing site has opened up at 689 Canal St., the location of the former Fairway Grocery Store in the South End.

Accu Reference will run the site, which will be will operate weekly Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tests are made by appointment only, and can be made here. Test results should be back within 24-48 hours but could be delayed slightly due to high volumes at the lab. Schedules for all COVID-19 testing sites in Stamford can be found here.

"As we continue to see the high demand for COVID-19 testing across Stamford and our state, I’m grateful that Accu Reference is making this additional site available and adding to our overall testing capacity," Mayor Caroline Simmons said in a news release. "The city and our Health Department will continue working with partners to provide more testing options for Stamford residents. As always, we continue to encourage vaccinations and boosters as the best way to keep our neighbors and loved ones safe and healthy."

The site has been made available to the city at no cost by LoanCore Capital, a Connecticut based asset management firm focused on commercial real estate credit, Simmons' office said.
