New Tenant Secured For Portion Of Prominent Stamford Building

STAMFORD, CT — A new business is planning to move into a space formerly occupied by Lord & Taylor at 110 High Ridge Road in Stamford.

Guitar Center, the musical instruments retailer, is expected to open inside a 14,114-square-foot space at the ground level (level 2) on the north side of the building.

Dan Zelson, founding principal of commercial real estate firm Charter Realty, told Patch on Tuesday that Guitar Center is projected to open in early 2027.

There are currently five Guitar Center stores in Connecticut in Danbury, Manchester, New London, Orange and Southington.

Along with a wide variety of guitars and guitar accessories, Guitar Center also sells keyboards, drums, DJ gear, audio and recording equipment, microphones, lighting, and more. Some locations even offer guitar lessons.

The building at 110 High Ridge Road sold in October 2025 for $62 million, according to Stamford property transfer records.

The buyer, listed as 110 High Ridge Owner LLC, purchased the property from LT Stamford LLC.

Westport-based Zelco Properties & Development is part of the ownership group, and its subsidiary brokerage firm Charter Realty handles leasing for the 153,416-square-foot building, which was once occupied by Lord & Taylor before it closed in 2021.

Saks Off Fifth moved into a 30,000-square-foot space on the second level in October 2022, but closed in February of this year after Saks Global entered into Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings

Whole Foods opened on the entire first floor in December 2024 and remains in business.

Guitar Center is listed as an anchor tenant along with Whole Foods on the Charter Realty website.

The Guitar Center lease is the first of several announcements expected for the building, according to Charter Realty/Zelco Properties & Development.
