New York Comedy Club To Open Location In Stamford

STAMFORD, CT — Comedy is coming to Stamford.

New York Comedy Club announced this week a long-term lease at Stamford Town Center. The club plans on opening in mid-December on the mall's restaurant plaza in the former space of Plan B Burger Bar, alongside Capital Grille, Peter Chang, Pieology and Puerto Vallarta.

This will be the third location for New York Comedy Club, with other spots in Midtown and the East Village of Manhattan.

The 4,500 square-foot comedy club will include a full-service bar area with plenty of seating and a separate room that comfortably accommodates 150 guests for comedy shows.

"This was a no-brainer," said Emilio Savone and Scott Lindner, owners of New York Comedy Club, in a news release. "Stamford is positively booming. We’ve seen similar concepts in L.A., where a comedy club is adjacent to a lively restaurant scene at a mall, and they’ve been extremely successful."

STC General Manager Dan Stolzenbach said he's "thrilled" to welcome the club to Stamford.

"This will be a major draw for local customers and an evening destination for the entire region. We anticipate customers making a night of it, coming to have a nice dinner, and then going to watch a great show," Stolzenbach said in a news release. "There are only a couple venues in the entire state that provide this type of excellent dining and world-class entertainment in such close proximity to one another. Customers can valet park, dine at their preferred restaurant, and then head right to a show to top off their evening."

The club has changed owners and venues over the years. Savone said the expansion proves that people are ready and willing to come out and see lighthearted entertainment.

"We’ve been through a lot," said Savone in a news release. "This comedy club serves as a place where people can forget about their worries, come together, and just have a great time."

The STC has recently announced several new tenants. On the Restaurant Plaza, Terra Gaucha Brazilian Steakhouse, Puerto Vallarta are expected to open in the next few months.

Inside, the mall has announced new tenants including La Picante, Soccer Fun Zone, Black Pearl Bubble Tea, Balloons and Beyond, and Fleur Beauty Lounge, in addition to the recently opened El Charrito Taqueria. Planning is currently underway for the Todd English Food Hall that will open later next year.

Although the club's opening is several months away, comics will be performing at the STC's upcoming block party, which is scheduled for June 25 and June 26.

Tickets are currently on sale here. Admission to the block party is $20 for adults, $12.50 for children 12 and under.
