John Loglisci, a lifelong resident of Stamford, CT, passed away peacefully at his home on the morning of Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023, with his beloved family by his side. He was born on the Fourth of July in 1935 and was the son of the late Louis and Lucy Sacco Loglisci. John was 87 years old at the time of his passing.

John attended Stamford schools, including J M Wright Technical School, where he learned the auto mechanical trade. He then served in the army for 2 years where he was based in Denver, Colorado. In 1958, John entered the restaurant business with his family, starting with the Tastee Freeze, then Lucy’s, which transitioned to the iconic JR’s in the 1970s, where he hosted customers from all over, including Jazz musicians from NY and Hollywood celebrities—the best time of his life! After JR’s closed in 1988, John continued his restaurant career as a consultant, manager and maître d’ at several establishments, including the Italian Center.
