Omicron Upsilon Omega Celebrates 34 Years of Service

Sorority Chapter Anniversary

The Omicron Upsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated celebrated its 34th anniversary on April 27, 2018. The chapter provides scholarship and service to the Stamford and Norwalk communities. Such outreach include awarding $80,000 in college scholarships to area high school students, the Stamford’s Faith Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church for a teen entrepreneurial and employment program, hosting an annual breakfast at the Stamford Green breakfast for residents, preparing students at Stamford High School for college, and collaborating with local organizations including the George Washington Carver Center, the Yerwood Center, NAACP, Urban League, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., 100 Black Men of Stamford, and the Fairfield County Chapter of The Links, Incorporated.

In addition to its #CAP (College Admissions Process) signature program, the chapter’s foci include the following targets:

Omicron Upsilon Omega’s not for profit corporation and philanthropic arm, The Cultured Pearl Foundation, Inc. was recently awarded a $2,500 grant from The Prosperity Foundation for its 2020 Black History Month Student Art Exhibition Project Expansion. The exhibit will feature a collection of selected students art work representing the achievements of African Americans and their role in U. S. History.
