Opening Of New Stamford Transportation Center Garage Could Come Soon
The opening has been delayed multiple times due to supply chain issues with needed materials.

STAMFORD, CT — The new Stamford Transportation Center parking garage could open within the next few weeks, according to the latest update from Connecticut Department of Transportation spokesperson Josh Morgan.
The opening has been delayed multiple times due to supply chain issues with needed materials. The garage itself has been finished for a few months, but finishing touches still need to be made.
"We are still waiting on some materials, namely glass, that needs to be installed on the stairwells," Morgan told Patch via email.

A date of Feb. 1 was posted under city requirements for potential demolition of the old 1985 parking garage, but CTDOT contractors are in the process of obtaining a demolition permit "in the near future," Morgan said.
"No demolition will occur prior to the opening of the new parking garage in the next few weeks and the issuance of a permit by the city," Morgan added.

The new garage, located on South State Street, will feature 928 parking spaces, 38 electric vehicle parking spaces and 100 bike spaces across seven levels. A 320-foot pedestrian bridge goes across Washington Boulevard and connects the garage to the transportation center.
Last October, Stamford received $9 million in state funds for the demolition of the 1985 parking garage. Morgan previously said demolition is expected to take six months to complete.
Demolition of the old garage will allow the state to proceed with solicitation of Transit-Oriented Development projects adjacent to the station, Lamont’s office said last October.
