Why are you seeking this office?
I am at a point in life where I can choose to give some of my time back to improve my community. I plan to take my ideas blended with direction from talking with residents to help create practical solutions to some of the challenges to Stamford’s residents. My goal is to help craft and pass policies to raise the quality of life for all of Stamford and to make it easier to receive necessary municipal services.
The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:
The overarching answer is quality of life but the most pressing issue I hear from people when I talk with them is Stamford’s infrastructure. I will advocate for allocation of the resources needed to maintain and improve our roads, sidewalks, and other elements of the infrastructure. A strong infrastructure will help not only the existing needs Stamford has but also set the stage for smart, well thought out potential future development.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I can see the opportunities and challenges facing our residents because I have experienced this city through many different lenses. I have been a renter, a home owner, a parent of a child in the public school system, a driver on our roads, a pedestrian on our streets, etc. From that life experience I can relate to the issues residents have as well as the changes they would like to see. This perspective in conjunction with my problem solving and project management skills honed in my professional career will allow me to help design practical and common sense solutions to benefit Stamford.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
I will focus on quality of life issues to make it easier for all residents to live here. There is a lot that can be done to make operations and city services more transparent, efficient, and accessible. I will do what I can that is within my purview to make that happen. In addition I will focus on constituent service as needed to best support the people I represent.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I have come up with creative solutions in both my professional life and volunteer work to solve knotty issues. I feel comfortable working with cross functional teams to analyze data and apply critical thinking often under tight timelines. My volunteer work and conversations with voters helped me broaden my knowledge and inform my perspective on how to best serve Stamford’s diverse population. These experiences allow me to empathize with residents and hopefully help them to feel someone is listening to and acting on what they have to say.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it”. While lifted from a movie there is genuine wisdom and applicability to why I am running. There is a lot to appreciate in Stamford. It is easy to forget sometimes what makes this city so special and why we choose to live here. It is even more important in these volatile and pressure filled times to not just appreciate the good that is present in Stamford but to get off the sidelines and work to build on our progress to keep moving Stamford forward.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
When I choose to do something in life I am all “all in” on it. I will be dedicated to working to uplift our community and look forward to the opportunity.
