Police Recover Drugs, Man Charged In Stamford: Police
Police said the arrest of a man wanted for failure to appear led to the discovery of crack and powder cocaine.

STAMFORD, CT — Stamford police said an arrest earlier this week of a 48-year-old man who was wanted on outstanding warrants for failure to appear led to the discovery of drugs and resulted in additional charges.
Bridgeport resident Jermaine Akins, also known as "Mash," was arrested on May 2 around 5 p.m. in the area of Station Place, according to Stamford Asst. Police Chief Richard Conklin, who noted that Akins spends a considerable amount of time in Stamford.
The SPD's narcotics and organized crime squad had been looking for Akins, who had 10 warrants on file for failure to appear in court in connection with previous drug charges, Conklin said.

During a search of Akins, officers recovered 18 bags of crack cocaine and five bags of powder cocaine, along with $838 in cash, Conklin said.
Akins was charged with possession of narcotics and possession with intent to sell, and given a bond of $5,000, Conklin said, adding that the failure to appear warrants came with a court-set bond of about $1.4 million.

"This was a nice job by narcotics and organized crime for identifying this party, knowing he was wanted, arresting him on the warrants, and then yet again, there are additional narcotics charges," Conklin said.
