Police Recover Gun Believed To Be Used In Shooting, Man Arrested: SPD

Stamford police said they recovered a rifle on Feb. 9 and arrested a 26-year-old man.

STAMFORD, CT — Police said Monday they arrested a 26-year-old man and recovered a rifle last week believed to have been used in a recent shooting.

Raheem Henry, of Stamford, was arrested at his home on Ursula Place on Feb. 9 and charged with criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of ammunition and illegal transfer of a firearm, Assistant Stamford Police Chief Richard Conklin said.

The Stamford Police Department's Narcotics & Organized Crime Squad (NOC), along with members from the SPD Youth Bureau, Detective Bureau, Patrol Division and K-9 Unit investigated Henry and seized a Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22 rifle that was stashed in the backyard area of his home, Conklin said.

A convicted felon, Henry, whose nickname is "Rambo," was given a $150,000 bond but remanded to custody, Conklin explained.

A shooting of a motor vehicle was reported on Feb. 5 at around 9 p.m. on Summer Street, Conklin said. No injuries were reported.

"We do believe this was the gun used in that shooting," Conklin said. "That investigation is continuing between NOC and the detective bureau. We believe further charges may be coming, and perhaps other people arrested also."

The motive for the shooting is unclear, and police have not said who they believe the shooter was.

"We don't know the cause. It appears there was some dispute involving associates to Henry. We're trying to decipher that part of it," Conklin said.
