Police Recover Gun, Nearly 3 Pounds Of Marijuana; Man Arrested: Stamford Police
A 27-year-old Stamford man was arrested on Thursday after a multi-week investigation, police said.

STAMFORD, CT — A 27-year-old Stamford man who was found not guilty last May of murder in the 2012 shooting of a Norwalk man faces a new series of drug and gun charges after he was arrested on Thursday, the Stamford Police Department said.
Hakeem Atkinson was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a firearm; criminal possession of ammunition; possession of marijuana over 1 kilo; possession of marijuana with intent to sell; and operating a drug factory, according to Stamford Asst. Police Chief Richard Conklin.
Conklin said the SPD's Narcotics and Organized Crime Squad received information several weeks ago that Atkinson, who has prior convictions and is a member of the Rollin' 20s Bloods Gang, was in possession of a gun.

A search warrant was obtained, and Stamford officers in conjunction with the Fairfield Police Department found Atkinson in Fairfield on Thursday at his place of work, and took him back to his Sherman Street apartment in Stamford, Conklin said.
"In his bedroom we found a safe and within that safe we found a Springfield 9mm semi-automatic handgun loaded with eight rounds in the magazine," Conklin said. "Also in that same safe was 114 rounds of various firearm ammunition and $2,330 in U.S. currency, as well as just under 3 pounds of marijuana, packaging equipment and scales."

Atkinson was arrested, charged and given a bond of $250,000. He's scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 19, Conklin said.
"This was a good job by narcotics and organized crime in this investigation taking another illegal firearm off the street," Conklin added.
