Pool Safety Standards Studied At Stamford's Chelsea Piers: Report

A young New Canaan boy nearly drowned at the facility less than a month ago.

STAMFORD, CT — Pool safety procedures at Stamford's Chelsea Piers are the focus of an independent company recently hired by the facility following the near-drowning of a young New Canaan boy earlier this month.

The Stamford Advocate reports that lifeguards and managers will begin training this week with staff from Ellis & Associates, an international aquatic safety company. Adam Khattak, the child who nearly drowned, has since recovered.

Lifeguards at Chelsea Piers have been certified by the American Red Cross, but the facility has now decided to have staff undergo additional training from Ellis & Associates.
