Popular Ice Cream Brand Opens Scoop Shop In Stamford

STAMFORD, CT — Stamford residents now have a new option for sweet treats to beat the summer heat.

Longford's Ice Cream, the popular brand that has its wholesale and factory outlet in Stamford, has opened up a scoop shop at 597 Newfield Ave. within the Newfield Green Shopping Center. The shop celebrated its grand opening on June 14.

Longford's offers small batch handmade ice cream, gelato, sorbet, fat-free soft serve, non-dairy vegan ice cream, ice cream cakes and more. Takeout quarts and pints are also available.

There are several signature sundae items on the menu at the Stamford location, including:

• Newfield: Chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, hot fudge, peanuts, whipped cream & cherry
• Springdale: Strawberry ice cream, Nutella, rainbow sprinkles, whipped cream & cherry
• Glenbrook: Graham Slam ice cream, hot fudge, Oreo crunch, whipped cream & cherry
• Westover: Butter pecan ice cream, caramel, walnuts, whipped cream & cherry
• Downtown: Espresso Nugget ice cream, peanut butter sauce, Oreo crunch, whipped cream & cherry

The location represents the brand's fifth scoop shop, and the second in Connecticut.

There is another storefront in Greenwich at 21 Glen Ridge Road, and locations in Armonk, Larchmont, and Rye, N.Y. Each scoop shop is independently owned and operated.

The brand was established in 1992 by Nolan and Patricia West in Port Chester, N.Y. The Wests started crafting ice cream in the back of their retail store, offering small batch, quality product to local chefs, the company's website says.

Longford's then moved to Rye and spent the next 25 years producing retail and wholesale in Westchester County.

In 2017, wholesale operations were moved to Stamford.

The most recent scoop shop in Greenwich celebrated its grand opening in April 2025.

Longford's is available for birthdays, team outings, community events, school fundraisers and corporate socials.

Hours at the Stamford location are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
