Possible Election Fraud Investigated in Stamford
The alleged fraud involved absentee ballots, according to media reports.

STAMFORD, CT — The Chief State's Attorney's office isactively investigating potential fraud involving absentee ballots in the 2015 local election.
Being looked at closely is Democratic State Central Committee member John Mallozzi, who was a city committee chairman at the time of the alleged fraud, according to the Stamford Advocate. His attorney said the investigation is more into procedural issues and not criminal.
The scheme involved requesting more than 30 absentee ballots, many of whom belonged to newly-minted citizens and using them to cast votes for positions including the Board of Education, representatives and finance, according to the Advocate.

State Rep. William Tong condemned the alleged actions and said perpetrators should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
"Like most people, I believed that election tampering and voter disenfranchisement happened in other places," he said. "To know that elections here in Stamford may have been manipulated is a real punch in the gut. As the son of immigrants, I am sickened that elected leaders here in Stamford, a community that prides itself on diversity and inclusion, may have used immigrants’ voting rights to perpetrate a fraud on our city."
