Principals, Assistant Principals Announced At 4 Stamford Schools

The appointments are effective July 1, according to Stamford Public Schools.

STAMFORD, CT — Stamford Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Tamu Lucero this week announced several administrative changes at four schools.

The following appointments are effective July 1:

  • Dr. Lisa Armstrong: principal, Julia A. Stark Elementary School
  • Kathleen Kelley: principal, Stillmeadow Elementary School
  • Natalie Martinez: principal, Cloonan Middle School
  • Rebecca Nixon: assistant principal, Stamford High School
  • Iuliana Roata: assistant principal, Julia A. Stark Elementary School

"On behalf of the Board of Education and the SPS Executive Team, I would like to congratulate Dr. Armstrong, Mrs. Kelley, Ms. Martinez, Mrs. Nixon, and Mrs. Roata on their new roles with Stamford Public Schools," Lucero said in an announcement. "These exemplary educators reflect the district’s commitment to hiring highly-qualified, passionate, and dynamic administrators to lead our school communities, and we are excited to see the impact they will have at Stark, Stillmeadow, Cloonan, and Stamford High in the years to come. I’d also like to thank the teachers, staff, and parents who dedicated time to the search committees, as their input was an important part of the hiring process."

The principal openings were filled through a competitive hiring process that attracted candidates from within and outside SPS, the district said in an announcement.

Committees of teachers, staff, parents and community members conducted two rounds of interviews, with the final candidate for each position also meeting with the Lucero and members of the Stamford Board of Education.

The assistant principal positions were filled through either the competitive hiring process or by administrative appointment based on the specific needs of the school community.
