Programs for Kids Continue at Stamford's Ferguson Library

Art, knitting, book discussions and more continue through summer vacation.

Here’s a rundown of children’s programs that are planned by the Ferguson Library for this week and the rest of August. Plan now and sign up for these great programs.

Friday Flicks
Friday, August 14 at 2 p.m.

The Iron Giant - Rated PG. 86 minutes. Ages 6 and up.

Fun with Fine Art for Kids
Saturday, August 15 from 10:30 a.m. to noon

Lower Level Program Room
Build stationary paper sculptures called Stabiles. Led by Laura McGowan, former Education Coordinator at the Morgan Library & Museum. Ages 7-10. Registration required. Call 203 351-8242.

Maker Monday: Knitting for Newbies
Monday, August 17 at 2 p.m.

Learn the textile art with a master knitter. Supplies provided. For ages 9 to 12. Please choose one workshop for each child. Preference is given to Stamford residents. Registration required. Call 203 351-8243.

Book Bunch Club

Children’s Reading Club Finale – Jim West’s Dinosaur Show
Saturday, August 22 at 11 a.m.
Palace Theatre – 61 Atlantic Street, Stamford
Must have received an invitation as part of the 2015 Summer Reading Club. Generously supported by the Stamford Center for the Arts. Ticket is good for one Super Reader and an adult escort. Must have ticket to be admitted.

Back to School Storytime
Tuesday, August 25 at 2 p.m.

Third Floor Auditorium
An afternoon of stories to help say goodbye to summer and get you excited about going back to the classroom—or going for the first time! For kids entering Pre-K and up.

Super-Power Storycraft

Back to School: Get ready for the return to school with fun school-oriented stories and crafts. For children entering grades K to 3. Registration required. Call 203 351-8294.

Fall Storytime Registration Begins
Monday, August 31 at 10 a.m.

Registrations accepted in person only on the first day. Registrations after that taken in person or by phone. Call 203 964-1000 for information. Registration limited to one program per child/per session at each branch.

And, the Library’s Fall Storytime Registration begins Monday, Aug. 31.
