STAMFORD, CT — One of the largest estates in the tristate area has been listed for sale in Stamford at $75 million.

Located at 1233 Rock Rimmon Road, The Hillandale Estate spans 200-plus acres on 12 separate tax lots acres that straddle the Connecticut/Westchester County border. There are 88.33 acres in Connecticut and approximately 112 acres in New York.

The European-style stone manor was originally built in 1900 for the Sulzberger family, the longtime publishers of The New York Times.

The current owners are the Haroches, who founded Liberty Travel. The family has restored and upgraded the property with over $30 million of improvements and additions that doubled the size of the manor home.

With 17,000 square feet of living space in the manor house, there are eight-bedrooms, 10-bathrooms, and period details such as imported marble, limestone, onyx and stained glass.

The home also features an indoor Olympic-sized swimming pool.

Fireplaces serve as a focal point for hand-carved paneled formal living and dining rooms, a cloakroom, library, conservatory and a breakfast room, according to the listing details.

The property also features two guest homes, an outdoor pool, pool house, greenhouse, two horse barns, private lakes, and 5.5 miles of private roads.

There are manicured gardens, wooded trails, and a hedge maze for children to play in, the listing details note.

According to the real estate website Zillow, the estate sold for $765,500 in November 1997. It was then listed for sale at $49.5 million in September 2020 and removed two months later.
