Radio Shack Bankruptcy Means Closure of the Stamford Store

The store is one more than 1,700 stores that will be shuttered nationwide.

The Radio Shack in the Stamford Town Center is one of the more than 1,700 stores the company will be closing in coming weeks.

The closures are part of Radio Shack’s bankruptcy proceedings. In addition to the closings, the company has an agreement with Sprint to create a “store within a store,” according to Business Insider.

The company plans to close at least 1,784 stores by March 31, with the closures coming in three waves, or tranches.

The 2,502 square-foot store located on the fourth level of the Town Center, is part of the second wave of closures involving 986 stores, according to Business Insider. Those stores will close by Feb. 28, according to the Business Insider report, that can be found here.

Also slated for closure in the second wave is the 2,350 square-foot store at 160 E. Putnam Ave., located in Cos Cob.

The store in the Riverside Commons shopping center in Riverside was not included in the closure list.
