Registration Open For Stamford Public Education Foundation’s Walk, Run

STAMFORD, CT — The Stamford Public Education Foundation (SPEF), which is dedicated to promoting equitable access to quality public education in Stamford, today announced that registration is open for the foundation's annual 5K walk and run on Sunday, Oct. 1 at Mill River Park.

SPEF’s 5K walk and run encourages students, educators, parents, and community members to come together and show they care about empowering the next generation of Stamford students.

All funds received from the event will help SPEF deliver its educational programming, such as mentoring and tutoring, to students in Stamford Public Schools.

Last year's event saw over 380 walkers and runners, and the foundation expects a bigger turnout this year.

The day will begin with SPEF’s 5K race and its newly added "SPEFY’s Fun Run," an exciting one-mile course for children under 12.

Keeping with tradition, SPEF will announce the winner of the MarcUS for Change 5K Spirit Award, which is awarded to the school that has the highest percentage of participation in the event.

The award includes a $500 prize for their PTO. Stamford High School took home the prize in 2022.

After the races conclude, join in the free fun at SPEF’s family-friendly FallFest, featuring interactive, hands-on activities for kids (presented by Kids Helping Kids and other community partners), SPEF’s Books Across Stamford book giveaway, tasty fall treats, and more.

Students participate for free, and single registration for adults is $35. This year, a special School Participation Pass is being offered which can be purchased on the SPEF website. It provides free registration for all staff and faculty at a participating school
