STAMFORD, CT — Longtime residents at a Stamford apartment building are facing eviction after they were told they need to move out by next month, according to News 12 Connecticut.

Coleman Towers on Spruce Street in Stamford's West Side is being renovated and turned into a mix of market rate and affordable apartments, News 12 CT said, noting that current occupants are a combination of renters and shareholders from a failed co-op association.

Some residents told News 12 CT they had a month to move out, and others said they had to move to a smaller unit.

The owner of the building said in a statement to News 12 CT that Coleman Towers was previously a cooperative apartment building and had been under foreclosure for owing millions of dollars to the city, utility companies and Fannie Mae for over a decade.
