Samantha Felder Wins Annual Roger Dean Award For The Newfield Swim And Tennis Club

Felder has been swimming for the club since she was six years old

The Newfield Swim and Tennis Club held its annual banquet on Aug. 7.

Newfield's swim team celebrated the completion of its swim season, which ended with a 3-3 record and a third-place finish in division one of the Fairfield County Swim League behind Roxbury Swim Club (Stamford) and Rocky Point Club (Greenwich).

At the event, Newfield's annual Roger Dean Award was presented to Samantha Felder, 17, daughter of Helen and the late Louis Felder of Stamford.

The Dean Award is named in memory of Roger Dean, a longtime lifeguard and Newfield supporter who tragically died young.

This award honors a senior swimmer who has demonstrated commitment to both the sport of swimming and to the Newfield Swim Club through dedication, perseverance, hard work and efforts to mentor younger swimmers over the course of several years with the Newfield Seals swim team.
