Samsung to Buy Stamford-Based Company for $8 Billion: Report

Samsung is offering a premium on the company's closing stock price.

STAMFORD, CT—Samsung will acquire Harman International Industries for $8 billion in a cash deal.

The electronic giant is offering $112 per share of Harman, which is a 28 percent premium on the company's closing trade value last week, according to the Stamford Advocate.

Harman makes consumer and professional audio equipment and expanded into auto dashboard infotainment systems.

Harman renewed its release last year at its Stamford headquarters. It has about 7,300 employees across North America.
