STAMFORD, CT — A Stamford police officer is suing gun manufacturer Sig Sauer after his firearm fell to the ground and fired without the trigger being pulled, according to a lawsuit. The bullet hit him in the leg.
Vincent Sheperis’ P320 handgun was fully holstered when it fell the the ground and discharged, the lawsuit states. He is suing for several million dollars.
Sheperis has been an officer with the Stamford Police Department since 2006 and has a clean record.
The bullet went through his left knee, which caused him to be placed on leave and then light duty. An additional surgery forced him on leave again. The department has since removed P320 handguns from service.
