Stamford North Little League sets in-person registration dates for Spring 2016 season; online sign-up available for returning players

Boys and girls wanting to join Stamford North Little League can sign up for the youth baseball organization starting Thursday, Feb. 11.
Stamford’s most successful Little League program is open to boys and girls, ages 4 to 12, who live or attend school in North Stamford or Springdale.
Children who did not play for the league in 2015 must register in person at one of these registration days:

- Thursday, Feb. 11, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the Springdale Fire Department, 987 Hope St., or
- Tuesday, Feb. 23, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the Turn of River Fire Department, Buxton Farm and Turn of River roads
A parent or guardian must provide the child’s birth certificate and three forms of proof of residency (driver’s license, utility bill, etc.) or attending a league-area school (most recent report card) at registration. Payment by check required.

Registration fees run from $85 to $220, depending on player’s age and level of play. Early-bird and sibling discounts, and scholarships available.
League eligibility
Children are eligible to play in Stamford North Little League if they were born on or between May 1, 2003, to Dec. 31, 2012, and either:
- Live within the league’s city boundary: generally north of the Merritt Parkway, or east of Newfield Avenue and north of Fairland Street/Toms Road
- Attend a school within its boundaries. These schools include: Northeast, Springdale or Toquam public elementary schools; Scofield or Dolan public middle schools; Bi-Cultural, Long Ridge, Mead and Holy Spirit schools.
Tryouts for new players ages 7 to 12 and returning players who were not on a Majors team in 2015 has been tentatively scheduled for Saturday, March 5, at Dolan Middle School.

Won two major titles in 2015
The Stamford North youth baseball program proved to be the most successful of Stamford Little Leagues in 2015. Its 11/12-year-old All Star team won the District 1 and Region 1 titles, finishing third in the entire state of Connecticut. The 10/11-year-old team won the District 1 championship.
