SilverSource Receives $5K COVID-19 Grant From United Way
The funding helped support the organization's food and nutrition program, which has been an important tool during the pandemic in Stamford.

STAMFORD, CT — SilverSource, a nonprofit agency that provides services and resources for older adults in the Stamford area, recently received a $5,000 COVID-19 Resiliency Grant from United Way of Western Connecticut.
The funding helped support the organization’s food and nutrition program, which during the height of the pandemic provided weekly grocery deliveries to more than 330 older residents. The funding covers services through June 30, 2022.
Studies show that older adults who receive delivered meals experience significant improvements in health and well-being, reduced feelings of isolation and less anxiety about being able to remain in their homes.

"With so many residents requiring restricted diets due to chronic health conditions, we work to ensure they receive specialized grocery items to meet their health needs, prevent hunger and provide nutritious food to keep them healthy," Bordelon added.
The COVID-19 Resiliency Grants are part of a coordinated, region-wide effort by United Way of Western Connecticut to alleviate the economic hardships experienced by the area’s residents as a result of the pandemic.
