Simmons Issues Statement On Death Of Longtime City Rep. John Zelinsky
Zelinsky was a member of the Stamford Board of Representatives for over 40 years and was an active community volunteer.

STAMFORD, CT — Mayor Caroline Simmons has issued a statement on the death of John Zelinksy, who served for over for decades on the Stamford Board of Representatives.
"I am saddened to hear of the passing of Representative John Zelinsky. Representative Zelinsky loved Stamford and he served his district for over 44 years as a member of the Stamford Board of Representatives. His involvement and commitment to his community was evident through his work with a number of local organizations and causes, including the Certified Emergency Response Team of Stamford, the Polish American Cultural Society, the Senior Men’s Club, and the Salvation Army. I am grateful for his longstanding dedication to our city and my thoughts and prayers are with Representative Zelinsky family and friends during this difficult time."
Zelinksy died on Jan. 27, according to his obituary.
Family and Friends may gather at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., on Monday, Feb. 5, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

A mass of Christian burial will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 6, at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 325 Washington Blvd., at 10:30 a.m.
A procession will follow to Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, N.Y., for the burial.
