Site Set For Relocation Of Students From Westover School
Westover Magnet Elementary School was closed last month due to mold concerns.

STAMFORD, CT — The former Pitney Bowes headquarters on Elmcroft Road in Stamford has been selected as the site where Westover Magnet Elementary School students will be relocated as mold remediation and repairs are done to the school, Stamford school district officials announced.
Classes will begin at the temporary school space in the afternoon of Tuesday, Nov. 13, and students will begin that day at Chelsea Piers in Stamford and be transported to the Elmcroft site.
“I would like to recognize the herculean effort of the various city and community organizations over the past week to get Westover Elementary School relocated,” said Stamford Mayor David Martin in a statement. “I believe that this new location will provide a wonderful opportunity for teachers to educate and for students to learn in a cohesive educational community.”

Added Schools Superintendent Earl Kim, “I couldn’t be more pleased that we have reached our goal of moving our students and staff together to a safe learning environment as soon as possible. Stamford is a community that supports one another in times of need, and this experience is a demonstration of just that. I am particularly grateful to the Mold Task Force members, Westover leaders and BLT, who have been working around the clock to make this happen, as well as all of our community partners who have provided support and services over the past week to serve our students’ needs.”
The city's Mold Task Force was scheduled to hold a public hearing Wednesday evening in the Stamford Government Center to discuss the mold situation, remediation and related topics.
