SoundWaters Flotilla Event Returns To Stamford In July
The four-mile community paddle raises funds for environmental education and the protection of Long Island Sound.
STAMFORD, CT — Kayakers and paddle boarders are set to take to the waters of Long Island Sound on Saturday, for the 2025 SoundWaters Flotilla, a four-mile community paddle aimed at raising funds for environmental education and the protection of the Sound.
Participants will launch from Cove Island Park in Stamford and make their way around Shippan Point to the Cohen SoundWaters Harbor Center at Boccuzzi Park, where a beach party with music and lunch will greet them. The event course is expected to take most paddlers under two hours to complete.
"When people experience the beauty of Long Island Sound together, they begin to understand just how vital it is to protect it," said SoundWaters President Leigh Schmitz in a news release. "The funds raised help us to provide hands-on science education using our million-acre classroom to thousands of students every year."

A post-event shuttle service will transport paddlers and their gear back to their original launch sites. Attendees may bring their own equipment or rent through SoundWaters during registration.
The event is supported by Franklin Templeton, Kaster Moving Company, Hey Stamford!, 95.9 The Fox, and WEBE 108.
