South State Street Reopens Under Future Stamford Transportation Center
The roadway underneath the future Stamford Transportation Center parking garage reopened earlier this month.
STAMFORD, CT — South State Street underneath the future Stamford Transportation Center parking garage reopened earlier this month, as construction continues on the garage which is slated to open in summer of 2023.
According to an advisory from the Connecticut Department of Transportation, periodic temporary single lane closures on South State Street during off peak hours will be required on an ongoing basis until the completion of construction.
The Stamford Transportation Center Parking Garage project consists of the following elements:

- Nearly 930-spaces, a seven-level parking garage located on South State Street in Stamford
- A 320-foot pedestrian bridge over Washington Boulevard connecting the garage to the Stamford Transportation Center
- Elevators and stairs connecting the garage to the Track 5 platform
- Thirty-eight electric vehicle parking spaces
- One-Hundred-fifty bike parking spaces
- Centralized STC parking management space and customer counter
- Unique architectural design and façade lighting program
- Building-integrated photovoltaics for on-site energy production
- Minor STC renovations at the pedestrian bridge connection
- Pedestrian crossing improvements at South State Street & Washington Boulevard
- Connectivity to the planned Mill River Greenway
