Spartan Race Launches First-Ever Kids' Stand-Alone Obstacle Course Race in Stamford
The Spartan Kids race will hold 2K and 4K heats with over 15 obstacles targeting kids ages 5-12.

Spartan Race is launching its inaugural Spartan Kids stand-alone race in Stamford in Mill River Park on September 26 and 27.
The Spartan Kids race will hold 2K and 4K heats with over 15 obstacles targeting kids ages 5-12. There will also be a heat for the “Special Spartans,” athletes with intellectual or developmental disabilities, and those with cognitive learning or vocational delays. All finishers will receive a free Spartan T-shirt and finisher’s medal.
“Mill River Park is a community resource dedicated to building and maintaining a vibrant world-class green space for Stamford and the extended Fairfield County, making it a perfect partner and venue choice for Spartan Kids,” said Dan Goldstein, organizer of the Stamford race.

“The support of local government and youth organizations, coupled with strategic partners such as Whole Foods, Home Depot, YMCA, Hearst Media, and Chelsea Piers CT, proves that Stamford is a like-minded community committed to healthy and active kids. Additionally, Mill River Park is a community-funded development project further emphasizing why Stamford is a great choice for Spartan Kids, and the caliber of this city and its constituency,” he said.
The event will include specially designed obstacles, healthy food vendors, experiential brand activations and much more.

“Spartan Kids mission, “Get Healthy, Get Active, Have Fun,” reinforces the preexisting sentiment in the Stamford community to look after its youth. The campaign leading up to the main event, leaves children with the tools and experience to keep the mission alive for years to come. The Spartan Kids Race is dedicated to creating an experience that emphasizes fun and nutrition and healthy living,” Goldstein said.
“What’s exciting here is that children with intellectual and developmental challenges are invited to an event with an objective of inclusion so that all children, able-bodied and otherwise, are playing together with the same benefit,” Goldstein said. “Special Spartans run in tandem with friends and family members as a way to ensure their success, create a sense of accomplishment and bolster their self-esteem.”
