SPEF To Hold 17th Annual Excellence In Education Awards March 21

STAMFORD, CT — The Stamford Public Education Foundation (SPEF) announced it will hold the 17th annual Excellence in Education Awards on March 21.

SPEF is dedicated to promoting equitable access to public education. Community members, professionals from corporations, school administrators, teachers, and parents will come together at the Stamford Marriott Hotel & Spa to celebrate Stamford’s commitment to empowering the next generation of Stamford students.

The evening will feature a networking reception with a silent auction, musical performances from students, hors d’oeuvres that will be paired with specially selected wine and beer, and, of course, the award ceremony.

Early individual tickets are on sale now for $150 and will increase to $175 starting March 1.

At this year’s event, SPEF will be honoring:

  • Susan Nabel, posthumously, with the SPEF Leadership Award
  • Viking Global Foundation with the SPEF Community Giving Award

In addition, SPEF will announce the SPEF Educator Award winner. Educators are nominated by Parent-Teacher Organizations from Stamford’s 22 public schools; the winner is selected by SPEF’s board of directors.

All nominees will be acknowledged at the event and the recipient of the award will receive a $1,000 donation for their classroom.

All proceeds from the event will benefit SPEF’s educational programs, which serve under-resourced students in the Stamford Public Schools district.

Programs include mentoring, tutoring, kindergarten readiness, parent leadership training and book distributions.
