Family in government: No
The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:
Schools & Infrastructure, without question. The single most pressing issue we face is the safety and reliability of our school facilities. I will fight every day for the safe and secure environments that our children, teachers, and faculty have a right to. Families and faculty feel an immense new sense of pressure due to COVID-19, remote learning, failing buildings, and the danger presented by mold and uncirculated air in the environment, to name just a few. This is unacceptable, and I will work with my colleagues on the Board of Reps, and along with the Board of Ed to ensure we solve these problems in a sustainable way. Short-term fixes and patchwork solutions can no longer be the normal way of doing things.
Critical differences between me and my opponents:
One of the primary concerns in District 11 is walkability and street safety.
According to People Friendly Stamford’s 2021 Safe Streets Record covering 11 votes since 2018, Rep. Zelinsky scored a mere 9 percent, placing him far below the 80 percent threshold of a “Safe Streets Champion”. We will be champions for walkability and safety in ways completely opposite of what you have seen.
Cara and I will listen to you and inform you far better than you currently experience. Whether by phone, e-mail, various social media platforms, or at one of our regular town hall meetings, you deserve active and involved Representatives who are engaged in the community and know its needs. More importantly, we need the kind of Representatives that adapt, however needed, to be most effective. You deserve nothing less.
I have children in our public schools, am involved daily, and understand the challenges we face. As a successful entrepreneur, I have the time, creativity, and modern perspective to be an exceptional Representative for the 11th District, and a balanced, timely voice for you.
Accomplishments:
I own two companies where I work in manufacturing, distribution, and retail all of which have enabled me to be skilled in research, production, management, international public speaking, marketing, sales, and graphic design.
On top of my work experience, I hold a degree in Geography with an emphasis in Urban & Regional Analysis which has given me an in-depth understanding of how cities and neighborhoods can run. In addition, I have a blue belt in Jiu Jitsu with 5 tournament medals. The focus, determination, and stamina it requires defines how I work, and I am not intimidated when fighting for what I believe in.
Other issues:
Walkability & Our Streets: We need safer streets, intersections, crosswalks, and sidewalks, particularly around our schools. For example, Strawberry Hill and Fifth St. need urgent attention. Cara and I are already hard at work with the Traffic Dept., Police Dept., and the school principal.
Access to Resources: I bring great skill and experience in helping people access and navigate many kinds of government based resources. I have successfully guided people in times of need through programs such as Husky, SNAP, Stamford Social Services, public school resources, and several community based service organizations. Everyone deserves equal access to all resources our City can provide, and far too many families don’t even know how to begin when they need help. I will be a liaison for these families.
What else would you like voters to know about you?
This campaign is not about me as I have no ego, or agenda to fill. My only desire is to serve you, my neighbors, in a more substantial and meaningful way. In many calls and conversations with you, I have listened to how dissatisfied people in our District are with the level and type of representation and communication we currently have. If elected:
- I will be more attentive and faster to respond than you are accustomed to.
- I will communicate with you more often, via phone, email, and social media.
- I will meet with the community by holding regular town hall meetings.
Now is the time for us to have contemporary Representatives for these contemporary times. Cara and I will reset your expectations of what a City Representative can and should do for you.
