STAMFORD, CT — A Stamford bakery is raising money to donate freshly baked cookies to hospital workers across the country as they continue to grapple with the new coronavirus. Owner Natalie Rose opened her small cake boutique on Bedford Street in Stamford less than a year ago.

Like many local businesses, Natalie Rose Bakery has been hit hard by the spread of the virus, also referred to as COVID-19. (To sign up for Stamford breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

"Like most, I am struggling to keep my business going," Rose said in an email to Patch, "but I also know there are many struggling more than I am."

Recently, Rose decided to start donating individually wrapped cookies to healthcare workers at the Stamford Health hospital as a way to stay busy, and positive, during this difficult time.

"As weeks passed, family and friends started donating money so I could make more cookies for the health heroes," Rose said. "With everyone's help, I am making at least 150 cookies a week! I am beyond grateful to everyone that has supported me in this time of need."

Looking to do more, Rose has decided to expand her cookie donations with the help of her father, who owns a post office in New York. According to Rose, her father has offered to donate some of the shipping costs and packaging that would make it possible to send her cookies all over the country.

This week, Rose launched a GoFundMe campaign to help spread goodwill, through cookies, to hospitals across the United States. As of Friday afternoon, the campaign has raised nearly $750 toward a $2,000 goal.

"Every donation, no matter the amount, will make a difference," Rose said in the GoFundMe page's description. "Together, we will bring happiness to the ones that need it most."

Donations can be made on the campaign page here. Further information can be found on the bakery's website.
