Stamford Coronavirus Updates: City Has 3,083 Confirmed Cases
City officials also noted Stamford has had "184 reported deaths attributed to COVID-19 cases" as of May 28, 2020.

STAMFORD, CT — City officials announced Thursday evening there have been 3,083 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Stamford as of May 28, according to state Department of Public Health.
While number is down from the 3,096 confirmed cases of the virus, also referred to as COVID-19, reported by the state a day prior, city officials also noted the department "has been reviewing its data and removing cases identified as duplicates, which may result in a decrease of overall cases."

In the city's daily "COVID-19 situation newsletter," officials also noted the state's interactive dashboard that tracks cases and deaths across the entire state indicates Stamford has had "184 reported deaths attributed to COVID-19 cases" as of May 28.
COVID-19 is caused by a member of the coronavirus family that's a close cousin to the SARS and MERS viruses that have caused outbreaks in the past.
