STAMFORD, CT — The Stamford delegation to Hartford has recognized Academy of Information Technology and Engineering (AITE) teacher Danielle Weber for being named the 2021-22 Project Lead The Way National Biomedical Science Teacher of the Year.

Project Lead The Way (PLTW) is a nonprofit organization that provides a transformative learning experience for PreK-12 students and teachers across the country.

The award recognizes educators who "demonstrate a strong record of delivering an inspiring and empowering student experience, expanding access to PLTW programs, and transforming teaching."

Weber, who teaches AP and honors chemistry, human body systems and medical interventions (PLTW courses) was chosen as the winner of the award last October from nominations received across the country. She has been a teacher at AITE for 13 years.

"I want to extend a huge congratulations to Ms. Weber for her hard work and years of dedication to our youth," said State Sen. Patricia Billie Miller (D-27) in a news release last week. "She is not only a tremendous teacher but also a role model to our students who hope to pursue a career in biomedical science. Ms. Weber is a great mentor and we are lucky to have her in Stamford."

State Sen. Ryan Fazio (R-36) said Weber's skills "are helping to mold our state’s future leaders." State Rep. Dan Fox (D-148) commended Weber for her outstanding contributions during such unprecedented times in the pandemic.

"Teachers have such an invaluable role in preparing children to face the world with the problems we are leaving them with, it is particularly satisfying knowing teachers such as Ms. Weber are out there fighting for children to be prepared and strong for tomorrow," added State Rep. David Michel (D-146).

State Rep. Matt Blumenthal (D-147) said teachers like Weber "ignite a lifelong fire to learn."

Corey Paris, a Democratic State Representative from the 145th District, said Weber has not only prepared her students for fulfilling careers, but has helped inspire and empower them.

"This recognition is well-deserved," Paris said.
