Stamford Dollars for Scholars Celebrates GivingTuesday by introducing the Power of One,
Stamford, CT, December 3, 2019 – This GivingTuesday, Stamford Dollars for Scholars will inspire generosity by raising funds to create scholarships "one dollar at a time." Our first crowdfunded scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded in 2020 to a graduating high school senior who will be the first in their immediate family to pursue post-secondary education. No amount is too big or too small to support the development of students who would otherwise miss out on this opportunity.
GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and their world. GivingTuesday will kick off the generosity season this year by inspiring people to give back on December 3rd, and throughout the year.
At Stamford Dollars for Scholars, our mission is to mobilize the local community to raise funds and provide scholarships to make post-secondary education possible for deserving students.
Help us harness "the power of one" to show our local community that we take pride in their determination and share their dream. Please visit:

Stamford Dollars for Scholars Vice President and Fundraising Chair David McCall states, “GivingTuesday offers us the perfect opportunity to spread the message of our mission and to celebrate the many ways that volunteers, sponsors and the local community participate to support our cause. As a first generation university graduate myself, I am personally very excited that this year, GivingTuesday will also focus on our first ever crowd-sourced scholarship. It’s a fantastic chance to truly harness the power of one dollar, one donor at a time, for one deserving local High School senior. Let’s show how the power of one can be multiplied to make a difference as we live our motto to build scholarships one dollar at a time.”
GivingTuesday was launched in 2012 as a simple idea: to create a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past seven years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
People demonstrate generosity in many ways on GivingTuesday. Whether it’s helping a neighbor or stranger out, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving to causes we care about, every act of generosity counts. GivingTuesday has raised billions of dollars for critical causes around the world and gets 14.2 billion impressions on social media from people and organizations speaking up for the causes that matter to them and encouraging others to get involved.
"GivingTuesday inspires people all around the world to embrace their power to drive progress around the causes they care about, not just on one day but throughout the year." said Asha Curran, GivingTuesday’s CEO, and co-founder. "With country and community leaders, millions of organizations, and countless givers of all kinds, GivingTuesday is creating a shared space where we can see the radical implications of a more generous world."
