The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:
Stamford's biggest concern today should be the repair and restoration of our schools. Their age and condition negatively impact not only our children's education but the attractiveness of Stamford to potential businesses and home buyers. I will continue to support the use of Federal economic relief funding for school capital projects to the greatest extent possible.
Critical differences between me and my opponents:
The challenge for the Board of Finance is to continue being fiscally careful while not being thoughtlessly negative about needed spending. I believe the Democratic majority on the Board does this successfully.
Accomplishments:
In my two years on the Board of Finance and we have helped Stamford's government steer through the challenges of the COVID pandemic while keeping property taxes flat in the first year and limiting them to a two percent increase in the second. I am proud of those results.
Other issues:
Continued fiscal care, aggressive oversight of municipal spending, and a positive working relationship with Stamford's next mayor
What else would you like voters to know about you?
I care about Stamford; my wife and I enjoy living here. I have learned that my goal of conscientious city government is not much different than the everyday financial concerns of my neighbors and everyone who lives here.
