Stamford Health Bennett Medical Center Adds New Signage
The new Stamford Hospital, which opened in 2016, is now complete with the new signage.

From Stamford Health: Stamford Health's Carl & Dorothy Bennett Medical Center campus is now complete with the installation of new signage at the corner of Broad Street and Hospital Plaza. Stamford Health President & CEO Kathleen Silard and, met with family members representing the Carl & Dorothy Bennett Foundation recently to unveil the new campus sign.
“The installation of the Bennett Medical Center signage is significant because it marks the end of a decade-long journey in which philanthropy has helped bring about incredible change,” said Chris Riendeau, Senior Vice President, Fund Development, Stamford Health. “Thousands of families, including Stamford Health employees and medical staff, participated in Healing. Reimagined. – The Campaign for Stamford Hospital, which raised $167 million, earning distinction as one of the most successful fundraising campaigns of its kind in Connecticut hospital history.”
According to Riendeau, much of the growth experienced at Stamford Health has been made possible because of the generous support of donors like the Bennetts, whose family through the years has made donations of more than $20 million to support the organization.

“Like most hospitals across the country, philanthropy plays a major role in driving capital investments,” added Silard. “We are extremely excited to complete our work on the Bennett Medical Center campus and are grateful for the support of the community we serve, including major donors like the Bennetts. They are essential not only to our success, but also the future of healthcare in this community.”
The Bennett’s relationship with Stamford Hospital began in 1974 when Carl was asked to join the Hospital’s board of directors. The couple’s first gift helped purchase what was then considered a state-of-the-art computerized tomography (CT) scanner. Additional gifts through the years helped launch the Carl & Dorothy Bennett Cancer Center; supported expansion of the main hospital (Bennett Medical Center) campus; and further improved both the inpatient and outpatient experience for Bennett Cancer Center patients by creating a dedicated Medical & Surgical Oncology floor in the new hospital and enhancing facilities and technologies within the cancer center.
