Stamford Health was recognized by U.S. News & World Report's Best Hospital Ratings 2023-2024.

STAMFORD, CT — U.S. News & World Report (USNWR), an authority on hospital rankings, released its "Best Hospitals 2023-2024" rankings this week, and Stamford Health received recognition.

Stamford Hospital was recognized as a "High Performing Hospital" in six areas: heart attack, heart failure, hip fracture, hip replacement, knee replacement, and stroke care.

Additionally, they were recognized in one of 10 eligible specialties for their expertise in orthopedics.

This was the highest number of recognitions Stamford Health has received since the inception of this ratings program. Stamford Health’s High-Performing recognition was driven by favorable outcomes in each of the six specialties, as well as good performance in service volumes, readmission rates, outcomes, pertinent care technologies, and specialized personnel.

"I am so proud of our team for earning USNWR recognition," said Kathleen Silard, president & CEO of Stamford Health, in a news release. "These achievements reflect Stamford Health’s commitment to providing expert, compassionate care to the communities we serve."

Dr. Rohit Bhalla, senior vice president, clinical affairs & quality, and chief clinical & quality officer of Stamford Health, said in a news release he's "especially grateful" for the staff at Stamford Health who work to provide high quality care.

"It builds on other recent recognitions including an 'A' safety grade from the Leapfrog Group, Magnet recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, and Gold Certification for Excellence in Person-Centered Care by Planetree International," Bhalla added.

"I credit the tremendous dedication of our physicians, and clinical and support staff, who all contribute to the success of these programs," noted Dr. Rod Acosta, chief physician executive, and president and CEO of Stamford Health Medical Group. "Each has been recognized over the years for exceptional patient care with a keen focus on safety and quality."

Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), in collaboration with Stamford Health, introduced the premier center for advanced orthopedic care in 2017.

HSS has been ranked number one in orthopedics for the 14th consecutive year.

In the specialty of cancer, Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Center, with whom Stamford Health has a collaborative relationship through the Carl & Dorothy Bennett Cancer Center, was recognized as the top cancer hospital in New England.

New York Presbyterian Columbia/Cornell, with whom Stamford Health has a partnership for cardiac surgery, was rated third in the New York Metro area in Cardiology and Heart Surgery.

New York Presbyterian Columbia/Cornell and Brigham and Women’s Hospital were both recognized USNWR’s "National Honor Roll."
