Shinn, Walston and Weinberg are facing challenges from candidates who have petitioned and garnered enough resident signatures to force a primary. Watkins is not facing a primary challenger.

Two other Democrats will go against each other in a primary to get on the November ballot against Garst.

The Candidates

Endorsed candidate Bianca Shinn will go up against Christina Strain.

Shinn has been a member of the Board of Reps. since March. She was appointed to replace Monica Di Costanzo who became the deputy Democratic registrar of voters in Stamford.
