Stamford Hospital Recognized For Nursing Excellence
Stamford Hospital is among 10.5 percent of registered hospitals nationwide and one of seven hospitals in CT to hold the designation.
STAMFORD, CT — Stamford Health announced it has again earned Magnet Recognition status from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), a designation recognizing nursing excellence and quality patient care.
The recognition marks Stamford Health’s third Magnet designation since 2016.
According to the organization, Stamford Hospital is among 10.5 percent of registered hospitals nationwide and one of seven hospitals in Connecticut to hold the designation. Stamford Hospital is also among 3 percent of hospitals in the United States to achieve Magnet status three times.

Magnet Recognition is awarded following an evaluation process that reviews patient outcomes, quality and safety measures, patient satisfaction, employee engagement and collaboration among health care professionals.
Stamford Health said site appraisers noted the organization exceeded national benchmarks in seven ANCC Magnet exemplars, including patient safety and quality indicators.

"Achieving Magnet re-designation is a significant honor and a reflection of the excellence demonstrated by our nurses, physicians, and clinicians," said Ellen Komar in a news release. Komar is the senior vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer at Stamford Health. "I am deeply grateful for the compassionate care and expertise our interdisciplinary care teams bring to Stamford Health and our patients.”

In addition to the Magnet designation, Stamford Health said Stamford Hospital has received recognition from several national organizations.
The hospital was ranked the top hospital in Fairfield County by U.S. News & World Report, earned Planetree Gold certification for person-centered care, received a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, an "A" grade from The Leapfrog Group and certification as a Great Place to Work.
