Stamford HS Athlete Honored By Positive Coaching Alliance
The volleyball and basketball player is a 'Triple-Impact Competitor.'

From ICR: Andrea O’Connor, a senior volleyball and basketball player at Stamford High School in Stamford, Connecticut, was named a Triple-Impact Competitor by Positive Coaching Alliance’s (PCA) New York City chapter. Ms. O’Connor is one of seven Tri-State Area high school scholar athletes to receive this recognition, and a Finalist for a PCA-New York City Triple-Impact Competitor scholarship.
PCA’s Triple-Impact Competitor Finalists will be honored by PCA at the inaugural “Jeans & Jerseys” Triple Impact Awards event, which will take place on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the Simon Baruch Middle School in New York City from 6:00pm to 8:30pm ET. Larry Robbins, CEO, Glenview Capital Management and Gary Bettman, Commissioner of the National Hockey League (NHL) will also be recognized for their positive impact on youth sports at the event.
Triple-Impact Competitors are selected based on their essays explaining how they meet three criteria: personal mastery (making oneself better), leadership (making one’s teammates better), and honoring the game (making the game better). Recipients must have a grade point average of at least 2.5, and must provide testimonials from a school administrator, a coach, and at least one from an individual who is familiar with the student-athlete and able to speak to his/her embodiment of the Triple-Impact Competitor principles.

“Her coaches and her teammates all agree – Andrea’s energy is contagious. Her infectious passion for basketball and volleyball allow her to effectively bridge the gap between coaches and the players, powerful attributes that we found most impressive about Andrea,” said Darrell Johnson, Executive Director - PCA New York. “Andrea’s leadership skills are on point and her selfless nature, inner toughness and drive to do better every single day is noteworthy. We are proud to recognize Andrea as a Triple-Impact Competitor”
Current high school juniors can apply for a Triple-Impact Competitor Scholarship between January 1 andMay 31, 2018. Applications and more information can be found here.
