Stamford HS Football Coach Jamar Greene Is Named NY Jets Coach of the Week
The award comes on the heels of the Stamford Black Knights dramatic upset of the Staples Wreckers.

Stamford High School’s football coach Jamar Greene has been named this week’s recipient of the New York Jets High School Coach of the Week Award presented by Chase.
With Chase’s partnership, a $2,000 award will be given to the school’s football program. Greene, who is in his second season as head coach of the Stamford Black Knights, will be presented with a certificate and an award ball. He also is invited to watch the Jets-Patriots game on Dec. 21 in Chase’s suite at MetLife Stadium.
Greene, a sixth-grade language arts teacher in Stamford, previously coached the school’s freshman team for two years, leading the 2009 team to an undefeated season.

The award follows Stamford’s 37-34 upset of the Staples Wreckers, who hadn’t allowed a touchdown all season, on Oct. 2. The 3-1 Knights face the Ridgefield Tigers on the road this Friday.
According to the NY Jets announcement, the award is given to coaches in the tristate area who serve the best interests of the game through the teaching of sound football fundamentals, the motivation of young players to achieve, and the promotion of youth football by way of dedication to their communities, their schools and their student-athletes.
