Stamford HS Teacher Will Receive Jail Time for Having Sex with Student

The teacher, who lives in Norwalk, will learn of her sentence in January.

In accepting an agreement to plead guilty to sexual assault, former Stamford High School English teacher Danielle Watkins could face a maximum of four years in jail because the sexual relationship she had with one of her students.

The 32-year-old Watkins, of Norwalk, pleaded guilty Thursday to felony charges of second-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor in state Superior Court in Stamford, according to The Advocate. Watkins was arrested this past summer on charges she continued a sexual relationship with a student and threatened to flunk him when he tried to end the trysts.

When the Norwalk resident is sentenced on Jan. 22, her attorney is expected to argue for a minimum sentence of nine months, according to the report which can be found here.

Her plea comes three weeks after two high school administrators, who were charged with failing to report the relationship to state authorities, received a special form of probation for first time offenders.
