Stamford Man Caught with Weapon, Marijuana in New Canaan
The man was involved in an accident and a search of his vehicle turned up the items.

A Stamford man involved in an accident on the Merritt Parkway in New Canaan was arrested after police found an assault weapon and marijuana in his vehicle, the Stamford Advocate reports.
Jeffrey Peart, 27, was charged with possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, possession of an assault weapon, possession of a large magazine and possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana.
According to the advocate, State Police arrived on the scene just after 2 a.m. on April 4 and troopers found a blue Ford Explorer on the shoulder and New Canaan police on the scene.

A strong odor of marijuana was coming from the car and a search revealed a small amount of marijuana and and assault rifle with two magazines, the paper reports.
His bond was raised from $15,000 to $30,000 at his arraignment on Monday.

Peart will next appear in court on April 13.
